Lenovo has unveiled its new range of Yoga devices, including a Windows 10 laptop whose life is estimated at more than 25 hours.
The new Yoga computers were unveiled at the IFA conference in Germany this week.
Yoga C630 WOS
According to Lenovo, this Arm-based Windows 10-based notebook offers over 25 hours of battery life, based on tests where it has played videos in a loop on its HD display.
In addition to the usual Wi-Fi connectivity, the 13.3-inch Yoga C630 WOS can also connect to the Internet via cellular networks, thanks to its integrated LTE Advanced Pro 4.5G chipset.
The Yoga C630 WOS runs on the eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 850 platform. The possible disadvantages of this manufacturer's choice are performance and compatibility with Windows 10, usually embedded on computers with Intel processors.
Tests of older Windows 10-based notebooks based on Qualcomm Snapdragon revealed poor performance. And the fact that some software supposed to run on Windows 10 did not work. That said, these machines were based on a previous Qualcomm chipset, so the Snapdragon 850 could fix these performance issues.
The Yoga C630 WOS will be available from November for a starting price of $ 850.
The most distinctive feature of the C930 is its dual display. It has a touch screen E Ink which serves as a keyboard but can also be used to write notes and draw sketches, but also serve as a reader.
As part of a hands-on laptop experience, ZDNet's partner site, CNET, found that the virtual keyboard was better than the first-generation YogaBook, but it still lacks the responsiveness and feedback of a physical keyboard.
CNET also highlights the limitations of the device as a reader because of the E Ink display that currently only supports PDF files and not the proprietary formats used by Amazon's Kindle eBooks. The nature of the E Ink screen also prevents it from being used as a second screen for the Windows desktop.
The Windows 10-based laptop will be available with Intel Core M5 and i5 processors, will have a primary display of 2,560 x 1,600, and support for Dolby Atmos speakers. Lenovo promises up to 10 hours of battery life.
The YogaBook C930 will be available from late September at a starting price of $ 999.
Unlike its YogaBook brother, this Windows 10 2-in-1 machine sports a physical keyboard and is available with richer specifications.
The notebook offers an HD or 4K display, with support for Dolby Vision HDR and an 8th generation Intel Core processor to an i7.
Lenovo boasts the "spin bar" of its laptop, which supports Dolby Atmos, while the "remote microphones" of the machine allow Amazon and Microsoft Cortana virtual assistants to detect orders up to four meters. The digital pen of the device can be stored in an internal compartment that also charges the accessory.
The YogaBook C930 will be available from late September at a starting price of $ 1400.
Described by Lenovo as a high-end notebook that, with 11.9 mm thick, is one of the thinnest consumer clamshell notebooks available.
The Windows 10 machine runs on an 8th generation Intel Core i7 processor, has a 13.3-inch HD display, a Dolby Atmos speaker system, a 10-hour battery life and " fast charging "from Lenovo.
The laptop is available from late October from $ 1,000.
